3 Problems With Having An HVAC Duct Leak

Blog

The importance of having your ducts routinely checked and cleaned is something that should be on your list of priorities when it comes to business ownership and maintenance. Your HVAC system can lead to serious financial and health consequences if left unchecked and neglected. The dangers of HVAC duct leaks can range in severity depending on how diligent you are with maintaining your systems.

Problem Number 1: Your Wallet is Going to Suffer

A small leak may not seem like much but overtime that small leak turns into a very big problem in the future. The HVAC system is responsible for controlling the humidity and the temperature of your place of business by constantly circulating the air to optimize comfort and air quality. When the HVAC duct leaks, the system has to work harder to make up for the leak thus creating a spike in your energy bills.

Unfortunately, the financial struggles do not stop with the spike in your monthly utility bills. Since your HVAC system has to work harder, the components are going to wear out faster. Depending on how long you force your system to function with leaking ducts, you may find yourself having to replace it a lot sooner than you would have had to if the ducts were not leaking.

Problem Number 2: Your Place of Business Can Become a Volatile Environment

For those who own a fireplace or any combustion appliances, and probably the most dangerous of the list of dangers associated with HVAC leaks, it can create an imbalance of pressure in the building which can cause backdrafts that can create a volatile situation. Carbon monoxide is the chief concern because now that is what is being circulated in the place of business. It is odorless and deadly when you are exposed to it for periods of time and a situation that can be avoided with routine checks and cleanings.

Problem Number 3: Your Health is Going to Suffer

Another thing to consider is mold. It can grow on various surfaces and should never been ignored. HVAC duct leaks in areas with poor humidity control creates a breeding ground for mold that is now being circulated throughout the home. Mold can lead to health problems such as sinus issues, respiratory issues, and asthma to name a few. Symptoms usually begin with red itchy eyes, wheezing, and running nose and can develop from there if left untreated. This can greatly affect your medical expenses due to the poor quality of air in your business.

Your HVAC system is the one of the most elaborate system in your business. With that, extra efforts to care for that complex system should be considered. Routine checks and duct cleanings will save not only money but also your health expenses and save you from potentially dangerous situations as well.

Learning About Cleaning Services For Offices

Hi everyone, my name is Sandy. Welcome to my site about cleaning services. After starting my own company, I decided to rent out an office downtown. The office space was relatively small but still incredibly difficult to keep clean. I was spending at least an hour a night wiping down everything, taking out the trash and putting items back where they belong. I elected to hire a cleaning service to take care of all those tasks and more. I will use this site to talk more about the cleaning services I received and their benefits. Thanks for your time.
