How To Remove Coffee Stains From Carpet

Blog

Coffee; it gets you going in the morning, but a little misstep can mean disaster for your carpet. As you fumble through your cabinets, looking for the spot remover, the stain is quickly settling in. How do you remove it? First, you take at least once gulp from you mug before mounting an attack.

New Stains

If the coffee stain is fresh, it is important to clean it immediately so as little liquid as possible settles into the carpet fibers. This can be accomplished in three steps:

  • Absorb: Use a paper towel or cloth and lie it on top of the stain. Press gently and allow as much of the coffee as possible to be absorbed.
  • Pre-Treat: Poor cool water over the spot. This is also a good time to apply a spot removal cleaner. You can also mix a little dishwashing liquid, white vinegar, and water together to create your own stain lifter.
  • Blot: Start blotting along the edge of the stain in a circular motion and move towards the inner part of the stain. Do not scrub or rub as this will spread the stain. Continue blotting until the stain is gone.

Old Stains

If the coffee stain is old, you can still remove it. A great home remedy takes eight simple steps:

  1. Mix white vinegar and water in a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the mixture on the spot and blot.
  3. Mix dishwashing liquid and water in a spray bottle.
  4. Spray the soap mix on the spot and blot.
  5. Fill the spray bottle with fresh water and spray on the spot. Make sure that you completely rinse the area afterward.
  6. Place paper towels over the stain. Hold them down with something heavy and wait for the spot to dry.
  7. When the spot is dry, lift up the paper towels. The stain should be gone or less visible.
  8. If you can still see the stain, fill a spray bottle with hydrogen peroxide. Vigorously spray the spot and wait one hour. When the hour is up, start blotting. Put paper towels over it and weigh them down. Remove when the spot is dry.

If all else fails, break out the carpet steamer. You can also hire a professional company that specializes in spot removal and carpet treatment, such as Southwest Chem-Dry. The best way to protect your carpet from coffee stains is to use a spill proof tumbler. It will let you enjoy your cup of java with no chance of a spill.

Learning About Cleaning Services For Offices

Hi everyone, my name is Sandy. Welcome to my site about cleaning services. After starting my own company, I decided to rent out an office downtown. The office space was relatively small but still incredibly difficult to keep clean. I was spending at least an hour a night wiping down everything, taking out the trash and putting items back where they belong. I elected to hire a cleaning service to take care of all those tasks and more. I will use this site to talk more about the cleaning services I received and their benefits. Thanks for your time.
