Three Safe And Natural Ways To Deodorize A Stinky Carpet

Blog

Does your whole home smell a little stinky? Chances are, it's your carpet that's to blame. Carpets collect everything from body oils to pet dander, and the accumulation of these items can lead to quite a stench over time. If you're ready for a fresher home, try using one or more of these safe and natural carpet deodorizing strategies.

Loose Tea

Tea leaves naturally absorb odors and eliminate bacteria. Sprinkling them over your carpet will help remove the nasty smells. Just cut open some tea bags, and sprinkle their contents liberally over the carpet. Let the tea sit for a few days, and then vacuum it up. You can leave the tea for as long as you like, since you don't have to worry if pets or kids accidentally touching or ingesting it. (It's safe!) If you do not want to use new tea for this purpose, you can even use tea leaves that you've already brewed and left to dry out.

Baking Soda

Few household items are as good at removing odors as baking soda. Sprinkle this powder generously over the carpet, and leave it in place for at least a few hours – overnight is even better. It will absorb not only the odors, but also any traces of moisture that are left in the carpet. This makes it an especially good choice if you live in a humid environment and think your carpet odors might trace back to mold or mildew growth. The downside to baking soda is that it is messy. You may need to wipe down your baseboards and furniture after treating your carpet in order to remove any powder that has gotten on them.

Vinegar and Essential Oils

If you're in a hurry and need your carpet to smell better in a flash, then this remedy is a good one to try. Vinegar helps eliminate odors, and the essential oils will instantly impart a fresh scent to cover the odors while the vinegar works. In a spray bottle, prepare a mixture of half white vinegar and half water. Add five drops of your favorite essential oil. Orange and lemon have nice, fresh scents. Peppermint is a nice choice, too. Spray the mixture sparingly over the carpet. Repeat as needed to freshen your carpet before company arrives or for special occasions.

In addition to using the tips above, you can also make your carpet smell better by having it cleaned regularly. A professional carpet shampooer will use steam extraction methods to ensure all of the smelly particles are removed – even if they are deep within your carpet. Learning About Cleaning Services For Offices

Hi everyone, my name is Sandy. Welcome to my site about cleaning services. After starting my own company, I decided to rent out an office downtown. The office space was relatively small but still incredibly difficult to keep clean. I was spending at least an hour a night wiping down everything, taking out the trash and putting items back where they belong. I elected to hire a cleaning service to take care of all those tasks and more. I will use this site to talk more about the cleaning services I received and their benefits. Thanks for your time.
