Use a steam cleaner
An easy way to clean grout that isn't too stubborn is to use a steam cleaner. When you use a steam cleaner on the grout, you will be using a green method to clean the grout because no harsh chemicals will be needed. All you have to do is to put distilled water in the unit and make sure you attach a brush to the end that is going to fit down into the grout. Turn on the steamer and work in small sections, starting at one corner of the room working your way across to the other corner, then move down to the next row. In most cases, you will find that the steam cleaner will do a great job. However, if you have stubborn areas, then you want to move on to another method.
Use a homemade solution
Make a note to yourself of where the stained areas are as you go along. This way, you won't forget any. You are going to make a solution that consists of one part water to two parts baking soda. Put a generous amount of this solution on all of the problem grout areas and allow it to sit overnight. In the morning, fill a bucket with hot water and grab a stiff nylon brush. Dip the brush in the bucket and scrub the areas clean. Once you have gone over all of them, you can use the steamer once more to make sure the grout is as clean as possible.
